AL-QIYAMAH (75)

The Resurrection

Revealed at Mecca, Verses: 40 In the name of Allah, The Merciful, The All-merciful
  1. No! I swear by the Day of Resurrection!(1)
  2. No! I swear by the self-reproaching soul!(2)
  3. Does man think that We shall not assemble his bones?(3)
  4. Yes indeed; We have the power to shape his finger-tips.(4)
  5. No, but man desires to continue on as a libertine.(5)
  6. He asks, `when shall be the Day of Resurrection?'(6)
  7. So when the eyes are dazzled,(7)
  8. and the moon is eclipsed,(8)
  9. and the sun and the moon are put together;(9)
  10. that day, man shall say, `where to flee?'(10)
  11. No indeed; there is no refuge!(11)
  12. That day, to thy Lord shall be the sojourn.(12)
  13. That day, man shall be told what he forwarded and left behimd.(13)
  14. No, but man is an evidence against himself,(14)
  15. though he may put forward his excuses.(15)
  16. Do not move thy tongue with it to hasten it;(16)
  17. upon Us is its assembling, and its reading out.(17)
  18. So, when We have read it out, follow its reading;(18)
  19. then upon Us is its explanation.(19)
  20. No indeed; you love the hasty world,(20)
  21. and leave the Final End.(21)
  22. Some faces, on that day, shall be radiant,(22)
  23. looking towards their Lord.(23)
  24. And some faces, on that day, shall be dismal,(24)
  25. thinking that disaster is about to fall on them.(25)
  26. No indeed; when it reaches the collar bones,(26)
  27. and it is said, `who is the wizard;'(27)
  28. and he thinks that it is the parting;(28)
  29. and leg is interlaced with leg;(29)
  30. that day, to thy Lord shall be the driving.(30)
  31. But he did not confirm, nor prayed;(31)
  32. instead he cried lies and turned away;(32)
  33. then he went to his home strutting arrogantly.(33)
  34. Nearer to thee and nearer,(34)
  35. then nearer to thee and nearer!(35)
  36. Does man think that he shall be left to roam unchecked?(36)
  37. Was he not a drop of semen, spilled.(37)
  38. Then he was a blood-clot, then He made (him) and shaped;(38)
  39. and He made of him two kinds, male and female.(39)
  40. Is That not able to quicken the dead?(40)
